i hate to have a pop at carl fletcher, but i could not understand why he had 2/3 more experienced players on the bench when they should have been on the pitch.i'm all for giving young players a chance,in reality the likes of feeny, gruierri should have been playing whilst using the younger ones now and then in games.

Comment by RODGER RUSE on September 26, 2012 at 22:00 Well said as a true supporter. As you can see I fully support everything that Carl is doing and I was one of the dozens of fans at Morecambe on Saturday who made a point of going up to Carl at the end and congratulating him on the marvellous job he is doing. It seems that his critics don't know what they are talking about and do not go along to enough games to form a rounded opinion. I agree that Carl's reluctance to comment on injuries is understandable as whatever he says will be seized upon by his critics as evidence of poor management. I hope that Griffiths will be back soon. He had a very good injury record in Wales but at his age it would be silly to take risks and send him back too soon. At least I agree with Phil that his appearance against Northampton was clearly too soon and the physio and his team will not rush him back again!
Comment by anglo_dutch on September 26, 2012 at 21:13 I am not surprised that CF refrains from commenting. There are too many so-called supporters who put a negative twist on things . Pointing fingers at training methods, bad management, signing crocks, poor medical staff etc. etc. Chadwick seems to be the only one who is injury prone. The others are just bad luck.
Am surprised to hear about Griffiths . If true am amazed he was risked against Northampton . It beggars belief .
I really cant understand CF s reluctance to give any news on injured players. Are the opposition really going to be that terrified if Chadwick or Griffiths suddenly appear on the pitch. Its quite obvious the injurys to both of them are more serious than we were led to believe. It almost makes you wonder if somehow there isnt a more sinister reason behind this lack of info as has been stated on other webs
Comment by RODGER RUSE on September 25, 2012 at 18:03 Fletcher is very cautious about saying anything about his injured players. When asked during an Argyle Player interview, he hinted that Lowry's was the only long term injury. However, I have heard from people who speak to those in the Club that Griffiths is at least a month away from a return. You are right about Chadwick. Since returning to us he has spent more games out of the team due to injury than playing for us. It is a shame that both of our big strong strikers are out at the same time as we do not have a Tsoumou this season to stand in for them. However, after watching last Saturday's performance at Morecambe, I have a lot of faith in the team.
Anyone know the latest on Griff or Chadwick ? Am afraid Chadwick is going down the same road as last time . A few appearances followed by a lot of time on the treatment table. My opinion of him always was that he is injury prone & although some disagreed with me i have seen nothing this time around to make me alter my opinion. I dont read the WMN & there never seems to be anything on the Argyle web about how our walking wounded are doing so just wondered what the latest situation on them is. Have only heard Lowry is in light training.
Comment by Gary Johnston on September 25, 2012 at 10:14 Along way to go but hopefully Saturday's result will give the team the confidence & boost they need to make this season rememberable! Where next? They need to make Home Park into the fortress it used to be!!!
Over the years the teams that are thereabouts at the end of the seaon are those that win the majority of home games & are difficult to beat away. Our home record hasn't been that good for a while.
The team needs to get the fans onside * also the fans need to get behind the team.
Hopefully Fletch will get the balance of the team right & they will do the job on the pitch.
At the moment we seem to be better in chasing results. We need to learn that once we get in front, to keep that momentum going & not try to protect a slender lead.
I have always liked a positive attitude & i still like to see 2 strikers working together, regardless how thing's are going on the pitch. A striker still has to do their share of defending at times.
Let's now hope the team grows in confidence & ability over the remainder of the season.
Comment by RODGER RUSE on September 24, 2012 at 14:09 How right you are Gary! Some people are very quick to take the opportunity to criticise after a poor result but not many respond so quickly to an outstanding outcome like Saturday's! I was one of those fortunate enough to be at the Globe Arena on Saturday and enjoy a fantastic recovery, fully earned by an excellent performance. It did not look good when Darren Purse made that uncharacteristic sloppy mistake so soon after the kick-off and then, after a first half in which our team totally outplayed their opponents, went two down after a swift attack into our penalty area just when we were in the ascendancy again. I was thinking "this should be 1-1 not 0-2" but was becoming resigned to yet another bad luck story.
All credit to Warren Feeney for showing so much coolness and confidence in converting both penalties. He works so hard for Argyle and seldom gets due credit, although he is popular with supporters. Carl Fletcher has yet again shown brilliant management skills by releasing Johnny Gorman after he failed to get into the team and replacing him by a much-needed experienced central midfielder in Ross Jenkins who had a great debut and scored another brilliant goal. The whole team deserves credit for fighting hard to the end and dominating the game from start to finish. Carl has his critics who do not like his style of possession football - they prefer to see the ball constantly hoofed forward rather than played around at the back enabling the team to retian possession for long periods. But the game on Saturday proved that his tactics can succeed with patience.
We still need to eliminate silly defensive errors and a bigger stronger front man (like Rhys Griffiths or Nick Chadwick) would perhaps help more goals to come from the strikers. However, I think we have the man for the job in Carl. We must be patient. It could take two or three seasons but he will get us into League 1 one day and, who knows we could get even higher.
Comment by Gary Johnston on September 23, 2012 at 23:21 We seem to get more comments on this site when we lose & have negative comments than when we actually win.
Did anyone see the game? It sounds like a good overall performance from reports I have read as well as a good result. Full marks to Fletch for getting Jenkins in & getting the set up right.
We have had a few early season injuries which have affected our line up & combinations but hopefully we can now get moving up the table to where we deserve to be.
Comment by anglo_dutch on September 20, 2012 at 11:28 I'm not sure whether its a question of ability but more a psychological problem. Many of Argyle's players are not use to winning. Most of the players are used to a backs to the wall approach to the games. The last 3 seasons have been campaigns of scratching for every point and try not to lose. The backroom staff must play the mind games to instill confidence that the players take onto the field . A YES we can beat this lot attitude !!!
I have to say i'm somewhat disappointed at Fletch's comments with regards to the fans, who i must say have played a massive part in keeping this great club of OURS going over the past few seasons, and is it about time we had something to cheer about and i think that some many people had high hopes for this season, even talks of a mid table would now be a welcome sight, but the way things are going we will find this season is to be like the seasons of past, nail bitting and yet again at the wrong end of the table.
I think it is only right that the Green army expect better, the teams we have faced so far looking at table positions are around the same as us in performance tearms, so these are teams we really need to beat and that will become more apparent as the season progresses the next 4 games for us are surely going to shape what sort of season we will have.
I love this team and have done for the past 32 years and i'm sure i as so many of the green army want the whole team to do well, but fletch of all people who has been through so much over the past few years as we all have should know that with poor results comes criticism, that is Football.
