I think it's almost certain that another striker is one of the two signings that Derek Adams is trying for. There are rumours flying around about Rickie Lambert, which would be brilliant, as even at 35 he'd be lethal in League 1, but there are other strikers who might be available and effective too.

Interesting that the squad numbers allocated to the players today does not include a Number 9. Could that mean that Derek is still trying to get another striker on board? There have been rumours of interest in certain players, including in Scotland. Perhaps a loan may be on the cards

It's all happening! Best news of all was the signing of Graham Carey. Sheffield papers were convinced that he was about to sign for Sheffield United and their players and supporters were excited about it but his loyalty to Argyle has remained steadfast. No doubt Argyle had to give him a very prosperous deal but for Argyle to retain the services of a player who is clearly of Championship standard was quite a coup! I am pleased that Gregg Wylde has returned too. I remember Derek Adams' first game in League 2 in August 2015 - away to Wimbledon - when Wylde and Carey both scored. The only surprise about the announcement of Gary Sawyer's new contract was that it took so long for him to sign. Unlike the usual little band of whingers who are already complaining that Derek Adams has failed to compile a squad that will be competitive in League 1, I think he has done an excellent job and I look forward to the new season with confidence.
